Ethan’s POV :
“I have been running this company for the past four years and I have made way more than my father has made in ten years”. I proclaimed to Oliver as I alighted from the car, and gave my driver a
soft wave. Whatever my father was up to, I don’t ever want to be a part of it.
“Isn’t that enough for him to leave me alone, what else does he want from me this time? after all, all he’s after is the money inflow”.. I continued , talking to Oliver as we both walked into the organisation, my organisation. Oliver has been my friend for more than ten years and maybe that’s why my father feels he is responsible for whatever happens to me, poor Oliver. I can’t imagine the pressure from my dad.
“Ethan, your father wants you to get married, at all cost, even if it means travelling the whole world in search of one” ...Oliver started sounding frustrated.
“Married “??? I repeatedly stopped in my tracks. What does my father think? I am like four or ten years old. Just four years ago that Lucas vander-burgh also my father handed over his second richest company, also the second richest in the world, the company has been progressing, although he had playfully stated that I would need a son to run the business so it could be in his words
“Transgenerational” but now I think this is what it meant: To be married overnight.
“ Ethan you know you have no choice than to follow his orders, and also do this for me,” this is the 20th meeting I have had with your dad, I’m drained from him telling me the stories on how he met your mother” Oliver expressed.
I thought for a second about what he said. Does my father ever know or think that women are not easily found these days, not to talk of a wife ?
“Just tell him I have hardened his words, Tell him I shall find a wife”. That should relieve him a little” I replied.
“Good morning sir” !! One of my female employees greeted me giggling like a teenager. I am very much aware that my female employees take a strange liking to me. Like the other day one of them tried seducing me in my office. If I would ever pick a woman to be my wife following my dad’s orders I would obviously not pick any of the female employees. I need a woman as a wife not a girl, and it’s not easy to find one.
I pushed the button to the elevator door, wanting to escape a few stares and gushes from the new interns who might be crushing on their boss, girlsss ?!!!! I stepped into the elevator once the door
open hiding from sight. A little quiet until I reach my office.
“ Ethan not when your dad has given you a deadline” !!! Oliver voiced as the elevator door engulfed us.
“A deadline”??? I questioned not believing my ears. Is this man never serious, what’s the time frame ?
“3 weeks”? Oliver sighed as he face palms
“Who finds a wife within 3 weeks''?? I deadpanned. At this point I was so happy that we were the only ones in the elevator.
The door to the elevator opens and reveals us to the 5th floor, the floor on which my office stays. We both stepped out not saying anything, as we both were clearly unsure and frustrated. I turned and I faced Oliver.
“Oliver, whatever amount my dad has paid you to convince me to get a bloody wife in 3 weeks, I am willing to pay triple of it, if you can help me make him believe that I cannot find a wife in three weeks!!!”. I pleaded knowing fully well that there’s absolutely nothing my best friend can do about this, But it’s worth giving it a shot.
“Ethan, I wish I could help man, but your dad is just as stubborn as anything I know”..
I know fully well my dad won’t play to my tunes, we own this city precisely Lucas vander-burgh runs every nook and cranny of Vegas, finding a wife for me won’t take an hour, but I want something real someone I can fall back on, the last time he arranged a wife for me, it was a total recipe for disaster.
I sighed and opened the door to my office. I froze at the sight of what I saw. At this point I wish I had never woken up from bed to come to this office .
“Dad, what are you doing here? I asked surprisingly, almost choking on my own saliva.
“ Ethan vander-burgh, what a pleasant surprise isn't it ? You see you may be the owner of this company, but I still have the keys to every door in this building” he chuckled with tobacco in between his lips.
I sat down dumbfounded, thinking of an escape plan. Clearly this wasn't a visit or meeting I had planned for. I have had surprises in the past, but this one nearly gave me a heart attack not to talk of, we were just talking about the devil before we came in.
“ Still shocked”, he paused and puffed out a smoke , “son I’m here for a very important discussion, in which I hope Oliver has briefed you about”.
