Sharon's pov
I was safely asleep when I felt a cold splash of ice water all over the surface of my skin.
“Get up! You sleeping mouse!” Alpha Gabriel shouted at me.
I jumped up hurriedly with fear. I thought an emergency arose. I heightened my gaze and I spoke at once.
“What is it? Did something happen?” My eyes sharply glanced through the whole room. But to my surprise, my eyes could only catch a glimpse of Alpha Gabriel.
“Nothing happened, woman! Why are you still sleeping at this time?!” Alpha Gabriel's face was filled with anger when he spoke those words.
I felt how my heart was hitting hard against my chest. 'What a monster!' I thought in my head.
When I heard those words from him, I responded to him in anger.
“So, you can't tap me gently to wake me up? Why must you pour cold water on me? See what you have done. The whole bed is soaked with water.” I spoke those words in anger while I stepped down from the bed.
“Don’t you dare blame me for soaking the bed! You deserved it. I don't even know the reason I married you after all. You are just too lazy for my liking.” He furrowed his gaze at me.
With a sigh, I checked the wall clock to see if he was on his right, maybe I slept too long. Only for me to see that the time was just 5:00 AM.
That only fuelled a terrible anger within me.
“Alpha Gabriel, we have been married for some years now and all I experience from you is ill treatment. Did you even check the time you are waking me up? For crying out loud, it's just 5:00 AM. And you are calling me lazy?” I widened my eyes when I saw the flimsy excuse he made for his ill action. Heavy breath continuously poured out from my nostrils.
He grinded his teeth and swallowed the saliva in his mouth with a harsh face. “I am done with this already.”
Before I could say anything, he walked out of the room in anger.
I do not know the reason for Alpha Gabriel's hatred towards me. I have not for once in my life enjoyed our marriage together. It's either we fight today or have an argument over unnecessary thing tomorrow
Flashes of memories of how we met came into my head. I was laying lifeless in the woods when Alpha Gabriel saw me and saved me from dying.
Since then, I have devoted my life to pleasing him. But all he did was to dish all my efforts in the gutter. He treated me more like a slave.
Even when he proposed marriage to me, there was no iota of respect. I could only remember that he professed he was in love with me. And not only that, his behavior was still better than this one. I accepted, because I love and respect him. Saving my life meant a lot to me.
But with the attitude he put up, If he hated me this much, I don't see the reason for saving me.
I have improved on everything he had requested on a daily basis. But he kept finding fault in me - just like what happened this morning and him, walking out in anger.
I looked around me and I was frustrated for a moment. I realized I would have to carry the soaked bed outside myself for sun-drying.
This was a torture to me. But till today, what baffled me was how I got to the woods. And any time I asked Alpha Gabriel, he didn't know the story either.
I felt there was something concealed that I had to unravel.
I managed to carry the soaked bed outside. While I was panting due to the stress, Alpha Gabriel, my husband, returned with a strange woman by his side.
Hearing footsteps, I turned to face them at once. Seeing what was before me, I was puzzled. I wore a questioning gaze, expecting that Alpha Gabriel would explain what was happening to me.
Alpha Gabriel stepped closer with the woman by his side.
“Why are you looking so surprised, Sharon? You should have seen this coming. This woman beside me is the love of my life. With her by my side, I will achieve greatness. And that is why I have decided to end this marriage.”
After spilling those words from his mouth, I felt a bang of explosion in my chest. For a minute, it was as if I was dreaming.
‘What did I just hear? What does it mean?’ I thought in my head. I can't make anything meaningful out of what he had just said. Maybe it was a slip of tongue. I froze for a moment, before I later snapped out of the tension to speak.
“What are you trying to say? Are you trying to tell me that you are ending this marriage?” I asked so that I could make sense out of what he was saying.
“Yes, you heard me right. I don't know what came over me when I married you. Right now, I realized It had been the greatest mistake I have ever made as a man.” His voice pierced my ear like a sharp blade.
My heart broke into several pieces after hearing him speak. My countenance fell while my voice trembled when I wanted to speak up.
“What have I done to you to deserve a divorce? Alpha Gabriel. All I ever did was to please you and cherish you. Is this all I get for all the years of my endless sacrifice and love for you?” I widened my eyes when those words settled out of my lips. My eyes reddened, ready to bring forth tears.
The strange woman he had brought interjected. “Just shut it! You lazy, empty vessel woman. What contribution have you made in his life?” She asked.
Those words settled in my heart, damaging me severely. I didn't know when tears started coming out of my eyes. “You dare ask for my contribution to his life?! I will tell you. After Alpha Gabriel saved me from the woods, his pack was falling apart. I could remember his adversary, Alpha Lorenzo. I was the one that advised him on how to deal with the situation. I didn't only do that, I put my life on the line and pretended to be Alpha Lorenzo's lover so as to get his secrets. That is not all, your pack wasn't rich when I met you. You were all poor and you could barely see water to drink because it was drought. I was still the same person that told you what to do which brought forth water and riches. That is not all, I was still the same person that got stabbed because of you, Alpha Gabriel…”
Alpha Gabriel didn't let me finish telling his lover the contributions I have made in his life, before he interjected. “Enough of those nonsense talks! Doing that for me doesn't exonerate the fact that I don't love you. And this lady beside me is two months pregnant.”
When he said he doesn't love me and that the lady was two months pregnant, I couldn't control myself from crying heavily. “You are pathetic, Alpha Gabriel. You said you love me and that you felt the connection between us. You even stated that the love was one of the reasons you saved me from the woods and brought me home. If all those words weren't true, does it mean you have been using me? And not only that, if this lady beside you is pregnant, does it mean you have been cheating on me?” Those words rang out of my lips, so the tears in my eyes became endless.
“I have been using you, Sharon. And you must be very foolish for thinking an Alpha would love a stray dog like you. You have no family nor do you have friends. Look at me from my head to my toe, do you deserve me? And for your information, this lady has been there even before I met you. It was just that we were friends and I didn't realize how much I loved her.”
I looked at the lady beside him, I saw the joy and excitement all over her face.
Alpha Gabriel continued to speak. “I have no use for you again, Sharon. Right now, I want you to sign these divorce papers. I don't need you anymore.” Within a blink of an eye, he extended a divorce paper to me
